Just hope that it won't turn up like that Johnny Mnemonic travesty starring a pre-Matrix Keanu Reeves.

Gibson's works are pretty tricky to transfer onscreen...whatever happened to the New Rose Hotel film with Christopher Walken, Willem Dafoe and Asia Argento?

Which - New Rose Hotel or Johnny Mnemonic? I'd agree wholeheartedly that Johnny Mnemonic stinks badly

the new rose hotel, had no budget, it was not very well done ..

mnemonic was a victim of the time period .. if it was done now it would havew been done right .. i hope ..

neuromancer would definitely transfer to the screen .. i have a pretty clear view in my mind how it looked when i was reading it ..

didn't gibson have a hand in that wild palms series , thats was pretty good with little in the way of effects ..

I think I would like this movie even if I didn't have a Keanu addiction.

There are a lot of good things about it, in spite of all the goofy things...my biggest problem was the casting of Molly, I like the actress, but not in that part...picture her trying to play Molly in the other stories. Also Dolph Lundgren was pretty lame. Jones was not realistic enough, but they sure tried. But Henry Rollins was super, Udo Keir was Udo Keir, and I thought Keanu actually did a good job. His monologue beneath the bridge is classic.

"I want the cold mexican beer, I want the club sandwich, I want my shirts laundered, like they do in the imperial hotel in tokyo, I want a ten thousand dollar a night hooker." = Glad you liked it. Did you know the director was from Buffalo NY? - Chris Bradley - Niagara Falls NY

I think Neuromancer would transfer to the screen very well. It's all a matter about finding a director that can pull it off...now that's the hard part.

I'd like to see Ridley Scott direct Neuromancer.

No...not the same Ridley Scott who bastardized Philip K. Dick's "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep"!!!

          Tarsem gets my vote too...

years ago i remember reading that Gibson had aproved of some young director guy handling the movie. a wegpage was even up for a short while. i saw this guys pic in a magazine, hes a dedicated fan as well as an artist.....but then the info stopped.....and i do believe there is that phony script...and that real aliens3 screenplay, which is dreadful.....
hey, but don't quote me on this ;P

The interesting thing is that Blade Runner is not DADOES - they're really two separate works inspired by some of the same ideas. I'm sort of thinking that either you get Peter Jackson to do a close quasi faithful reproduction of the Sprawl trilogy, or you get a director who will make it his own. Whenever I think of Nighttown, I'm thinking of images from Blade Runner, so I wouldn't mind seeing what Ridley Scott would do with it.

Not necessarily, but Pattern Recongition (set in the same world)has been optioned for the big screen.

Must be the whole "Ringu" like sceanrio worth exploiting...

I have to ask myself to update this. Anyone hear if the movie was being done. I have heard this as well and was talking about it today with a friend. Made me want to read Gibsons books again.

I think Count Zero'd lend itself better to the big screen.

Yeah, the problem I've always heard about the Sprawl series was that he didn't own the character rights, which is why movies get made out of Burning Chrome. Note no "Sally", etc. Gibson worked directly with Longo on Johnny Mnemonic - very close to the production, and it blew chunks. NRH also blew chunks, unless you don't care about the story and want to watch Asia Argento's ass. Which is worth watching and all, but...
I don't think there was enough story for the VL series, but PR might translate very well.
