I met him

I was walking down 4th at Arbutus (Vancouver) one sunny afternoon and spied this happy, lanky man. I had to stop and think who he reminded me of... so I approached him, and said" you could be a double of William Gibson" He said "yes". Thats when I realized it was him. I thanked him for all the books, and he said "and many more". It really made my day, I wish I had the time to follow him around for a bit, and ask him about his thoughts on life... wondered what he would say.

I interviewed him twice. He is pretty cool. Haven't seen him since 99, but he said he would hang out with me anytime he was in town. That was when I lived in Seattle. Here is my first interview with him. . .

Still trying to get through "Pattern Recognition", myself. What's your fave WiGi book? WiGi is slang for William Gibson, in case I lost you.

I guess my favorite William Gibson book is probably Neuromancer. I also enjoyed the heck out of all his other books except I haven't yet read Pattern Recognition.

Hmm, not if I can help it... ;-)

Pattern Recognition is a great side step for William Gibson's normal narrative style. I was impressed and recommend the structure of it over his other fabulous books due to the novelty. Also, he earned his fame for original thought, structure and theme. Pattern Recognition is a new road for him. He keeps the originality flowing.

hmm.. virtual light.. or mona lisa overdrive..
I dunno.. I like them all really.
Pattern Recognition was good in my opinion, not so much his usual cyberpunk faire, but I thought it was excellent..

Speaking of gibson, I saw him in an old news reel from the 60s awhile back on the net (BBC I think..) they interviewed him about the hippy scene up in Canada and follow him around, it was a trip. I'm positive it was him though, it was kind of nuts to see him so young.

I wish I had a link but I think the section of the site where I found it is down, and it was a stream so I couldnt download a copy.
I wish I had one though.
